Rescuers are wonderful people who are dedicated to helping
animals one by one. Some specialize in a certain type of animal,
like cats or birds, or in a certain breeds of dog. They often
save companion animals from situations of abuse, neglect or
abandonment, with great expense of time and effort. They
can help you find or place a particular pet. Most rescue
people are dedicated and responsible; they have their animals
vetted, they screen potential adopters, and they sometimes
require that you sign an adoption agreement. They may
charge a fee to offset their expenses.
