ADOPTING OR PLACING A PET
GENERAL ADVICE FOR FINDING A GOOD HOME
Many people who have had experience finding homes for rescued animals advise that you have the veterinary care done before you offer the animal for adoption and then ask to be reimbursed for your expenses in exchange for the animal. This is altogether a better solution than leaving it up to a stranger's good faith, no matter what the assurances. Of course, there may be circumstances where this
is not possible. It is also extremely important to visit the new home beforehand.
Consider putting a flyer up on your vet's bulletin board. This is often a
good way to find a new home. You can check also post a free listing at PawsitiveConnection.net.
We strenuously discourage "Free to good home ads" which can lure
"bunchers", unscrupulous people who collect animals for illicit and
often cruel purposes.

ADOPTING A "RESCUE"
Never ever purchase a dog or cat from a pet store. More often than not these
animals come from "puppy mills". Please consider adopting a rescued
cat or dog from a shelter or a rescue group. Several Pet FBI volunteers also
work with other organizations that rescue and foster cats and dogs. If you leave
a message on our voice mail, we will get back to you about the animals currently
being cared for. Call 614 675 1305. If you are looking for particular
breed, go to our breed rescue
listings. You can check also check the listings at PawsitiveConnection.net.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN ADOPTING
When adopting from a reputable agency or rescue group you probably be asked to sign a formal adoption agreement. Often a home visit is made to before the adoption is made. These procedures are followed to insure the animal is going to a good home with responsible people. You will also be ask to pay an adoption fee. This fee is charged to reimburse the agency for medical expenses the agency incurred for spaying and neutering and for any required
vaccinations.
